When news of a new Dora came out last March, only a silhouette was revealed -- a silhouette that made it appear as if the pudgy, plucky tyke had taken to wearing mini-skirts on a now-willowy form for a supposed 12-year-old girl. However, several weeks later, Mattel put parents concerns to rest by revealing that actual concept art, not just the silhouette.
It revealed an outfit that's more akin to tunic and leggings than anything suggestive. As we reported at the time, however, "Still, the lipsticked-looking lips and frilly, bow-laden image seem to suggest that fashion and accessories are more important than outdoors adventures."
The homework-oriented, tech-savvy Dora Links Doll continues the tradition of being a good, if not outdoors-oriented, role model for children.
